The ghosts of a dead couple are haunted by an insufferable family that has moved into their home, and hires an evil spirit to drive them out. This is Michael Keaton's favorite film from his own. Otto's shoes when he's painting the walls in the house change from fiery red elf shoes to white sneakers when he walks through the bathroom, and then they change back to red elf shoes when he enters the next room. Adam: What are your qualifications? Beetlejuice: A. Well... I went to Juilliard... I graduated from Harvard Business School. I travel quite a lot. I survived the Black Death and had a pretty good time during it. I'VE WATCHED THE EXORCIST APPROXIMATELY ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY SEVEN TIMES AND IT GETS FUNNIER EACH TIME I SEE IT... I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT TALKING TO THE DEAD... WHAT DO YOU THINK? Do you think I'm qualified? The Geffen company logo is accompanied by a hideous version of the song Banana Boat (performed by the film's composer Danny Elfman).. A working copy of the film has surfaced with some added/alternative scenes. This version of the film is about 2 minutes shorter than in the cinema, has a few extra walls and is missing some others, it is black and white and has a time code at the bottom. There are 4 main differences in this version: Alternative scene: The scene where Adam tries to leave the house after he and his wife die is different. Instead of a desert, he sees an empty darkness filled with spinning gears. Additional Walls: There is an additional wall where Lydia displays her photographs of Adam and Barbra. Then, after her mother yells at her and accuses her of cutting holes in her sheets, Lydia runs upstairs and tries to convince her father that the photos are real. There is another scene where the adults are looking for ghosts in the attic, where we see a desert monster trying to eat Adam and Barbra as they hang from the attic window. Finally, there is an additional 2-minute scene at the end where we see Lydia riding her bike home from school while her parents talk to Jane on the phone, telling her that they don't want to sell the house. Lydia's dance wall is shorter in this version, and there is no Beetlejuice wall in the waiting room. The film ends with the final appearance of the house.. Edited in Terror Toons (2002). Day-OTraditional, lyrics by William A. Attaway and Irving Burgess [Incorrectly stated that the authors of the song are William A. Attaway and Irving Burgess (as Lord Burgess)] Performed by Harry Belafonte Presented by RCA Records. With ghosts and the dead, one would normally expect a horror film full of screams and bloody figures. But in "Beetlejuice" we see experiments with humor of a new dimension. Considering that the film was shot in 1988 with limited special effects, "Beetlejuice" could simply be called "creativity at its best". Tim Burton is a pure visionary, and in this film you can't help but appreciate his creativity and his ability to bring it to the screen. Acting at the highest level in all directions. It is impossible not to admire the young and promising Winona Ryder - a flower ready to bloom. To evaluate the film as a whole, you will need several viewings.
